In my Final Thesis I sought to deepen the knowledge on living in the city today, through the documentation of four existing homes and the planning of four possible homes. Events, actions, places, objects, and use-patterns of the city make up equal components of dwelling. Their careful observation produced a new representation of the home – not as a solid state, but as a flux.

The project’s first part is documentative: four plans in the scale of 1:10 of four existing urban households. The plans embody values and ideas of possible ways of living in the city. They oppose the distinction between big and small, and between object, house, and city, amplifying the importance of the everyday household.

The project’s second part is comprised of four proposals, dealing with the same idea that arose in the documentary part, each in its own way. As the ongoing documentation reveals more values and ideas, more planning possibilities of living in the city will emerge.
