In the Fall 2022 the Yale School of Architecture Gallery hosted a traveling exhibition that began at the DAM (German Architecture Museum) in Frankfurt am Main in 2017. The exhibition represents a selection from the first-ever global survey of the Brutalist architecture of the 1950s to the 1970s.

Our contribution to “SOS Brutalism: Save the Concrete Monsters” focused on conceptualizing the column as an essential element that transcends Beton Brut into Brutalism and materiality into form. Through its inherent structural properties and functions, a distinct language of load transferring and bearing defines what brutalism brings to the discourse of architecture. These columns, elements of speculation and desire, served as the basis for a detailed exploration of formwork interpretation, resulting in the creation of 1:10 scaled models.
